THIS MOST ELEGANT OF CARS IS IN GENERALLY VERY SOUND STRUCTURAL

CONDITION, BUT VULNERABLE AREAS HAVE ALLOWED WATER INGRESS 

WHICH HAS CAUSED A FAIR AMOUNT OF RUST - AROUND A AND B POSTS,

HIDDEN AREAS UNDER BUMPERS, UNDER AND AROUND VINYL ROOF, BOOT,

FRONT INNER WINGS ETC.

ELECTRICAL WORK NEARLY FINISHED (17/02/2026)

QUITE A LONG LIST OF ELECTRICAL GREMLINS, INDICATORS, WIPERS, 

WINDOWS, OIL PRESSURE GAUGE, RADIO, HORNS ETC NOT WORKING

CORRECTLY.  HAVE NOW SELECTED THE BEST OF OUR 'KENT' ALLOYS -

TYRES FITTED AND BALANCED YESTERDAY.  THEY DO STILL HAVE VERY

SLIGHT IMPERFECTIONS AFTER DIAMOND CUTTING, BUT FOR 50 + YEAR

OLD WHEELS....NOT TOO SHABY !

A LOT OF ELECTRICAL PRE MOT WORK TO GET THROUGH BEFORE TEST -

NOT VERY PHOTOGENIC ! THE KENT WHEELS CAME OUT VERY NICELY. 

HAD A SHORT TEST DRIVE. NEW MANUAL BOX PERFORMED WELL, BUT

ENGINE NEEDS SETTING UP - DOWN ON POWER AND NOT AS SMOOTH AS IT

SHOULD BE. NOW TRYING THE 3RD WASHER ARM ...FIRST 2 DIDNT WORK !

AUTO ELECTRICIAN VISITED AND GOT THE SCREEN WASHERS WORKING -

NEEDED 3 SWITCHES TO MAKE A GOOD ONE. ALSO GOT THE REVERSE LIGHTS

WORKING WITH THE NEW MANUAL BOX. WIRED IN REAR CAMPARTMENT WINDOW

SWITCHES, STARTED TO WIRE UP SOLENOID FOR OVERDRIVE.

SIGNAL RED PAINT APPLICATION (30/11/-0001)

FIRST COATS GOING TO UNDERSIDE OF BOOT, BONNET ETC.

FEB 2026 (30/11/-0001)

MANUAL GEARBOX NOW COMPLETED. UNDERSIDE OF CHASSIS CLEANED AND

WAXOYLED. NOW GOING THROUGH A LIST OF ELECRICAL ISSUES BEFORE MOT.

SOURCED 12 KENT ALLOYS FOR REFURB. ONCE THESE HAVE BEEN DIAMOND CUT,

WILL SELECT BEST 4 AND FIT TYRES.

THE BODY PANELS ALSO QUITE RUSTY, THE FRONT LOWER EDGES

OF THE BONNET IN  PARTICULAR.  IT WAS DECIDED TO BARE METAL THE

WHOLE BODY PLUS ALL OF THE PANELS. THIS MEANS A LOT MORE 

FILLER WORK BEFORE THE NEW PAINT CAN GO ON. BUT IT MADE SENSE -

ESPECIALLY AFTER WE FOUND RUST LURKING UNDER THE OLD  BOOT-LID 

PAINT  ETC. 

NOVEMBER 2024 (30/11/-0001)

ONCE THE BUMPERS AND LIGHTS WERE STRIPPED, AND WINGS REMOVED - THE

EXTENT OF RUST GRADUALLY BECAME KNOWN. THE WORST AREA WAS THE A

PILLAR ON DRIVERS SIDE - THIS HAS SEVERE RUST AND NEEDS A LOT OF WELDING

AND FABRICATION TO BRING IT BACK TO ITS ORIGINAL STRENGTH.
