ITS VERY COMMON TO FIND MORE RUST AS THESE PROJECTS BEGIN TO EVOLVE.

THIS MGB IS FAR BETTER THAN SOME WE'VE SEEN....BUT ...QUITE A BIT OF RUST

FOUND AFTER SPENDING MORE TIME INVESTIGATING !

OUR CUSTOMER HAS BOUGHT A NEW STEEL FRONT WING . MEANWHILE, THE CUTTING

OUT OF RUSTY METAL AND SEAM WELDING NEW SECTIONS IN CONTINUES...

MORE RUST AT TOP OF PASSENGER DOOR... (30/11/-0001)

LOOKING FROM THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR...MORE RUST AT THE TOP OF

THE PANEL...ONCE SANDED BACK...HOLES AND PREVIOUS FILLER EXPOSED....

HAVE BEEN CONTINUING WITH WELDING. IN PARTICULAR, THE AREAS AROUND INNER WING

AND BRACKETS WHICH SUPPORT THE OUTER WING.   THE REAR BUMPER BRACKETS WERE

VERY RUSTY, SO MADE 3 NEW ONES. OTHER AREAS THAT WERE HOLED - AROUND SCUTTLES 

ETC HAVE HAD NEW SECTIONS MADE AND SEAM WELDED IN.  

March 2026 (30/11/-0001)

The whole car was sent away for sand blasting. We just wanted to be sure 

that the rust was fully exposed. Or blaster is very experienced and very careful 

not to distort panels, but left the delicate upper quarters and scuttles etc. We

did these areas the old school way...paint stripper and sand paper !

PREPARE FOR BLASTING, PHOTOGRAPH LOOM, MORE BODYWORK... (30/11/-0001)

WE DECIDED TO GET THE CAR BLASTED UP TO SWAGE LINE - JUST

TO REVEAL ANY MORE NASTY SUPRISES ! REMOVED SEAT BELTS AND TRIMS,

REMAINING CARPETS, MASKED INTERIOR. WILL ASK BLASTER TO MASK COLUMN

- WE NEED STEERING TO LOAD ON/OFF TRAILER ! PHOTOGRAPHED OLD WIRING

FOR REFERENCE. REMOVED REMAINING CLOCKS ETC. 

FEB 2026 (30/11/-0001)

ENGINE BAY AND UNDERSIDE CHEMICALLY CLEANED.  A LOT OF FILLER IN UNDERSIDE

OF DOOR ...ONCE REMOVE... A PRETY LARGE HOLE APPEARED. NOW CAREFULLY FABRICATING

NEW STEEL SECTION TO BE SEAM WELDED IN PLACE

MARCH 05 26 (30/11/-0001)

REMOVED O/S WING . NOT AS BAD AS N/S. QUITE A FEW SMALL WELDS

TO BE DONE BUT ITS SALVAGEABLE. SAME GOES FOR INNER WING BRACKET.

A BIG SLAB OF GLASSFIBRE ON TOP - BUT CAN BE REPAIRED. THE CHASSIS AND

REAR AXLE AND BOOT AREAS CAME OUT WELL , AND NOT TOO MUCH RUST IN 

ENGINE BAY.
